COSP 16 What to expect? Political party in Taiwan. The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) is a Taiwanese nationalist and centre-left political party in the Republic of China (Taiwan). Currently controlling both the Republic of China presidency and the unicameral Legislative Yuan, it is the majority ruling party and the dominant party in the Pan-Green Coalition as of 2023. Founded in 1986 by Hsu Hsin-liang, Hsieh Tsung-min and Lin Shui-chuan, a year prior to the end of martial law, the DPP is one of two major parties in Taiwan, the other being the historically dominant Kuomintang (KMT), which previously ruled the country as a one-party state. It has traditionally been associated with a strong advocacy of human rights, emerging against the authoritarian White Terror that was initiated by the KMT, as well as the promotion of Taiwanese nationalism and identity, in contrast to Chinese unification. The incumbent President and three-time leader of the DPP, Tsai Ing-wen, is the second member of the DPP to hold the office.The DPP is a longtime member of Liberal International and a founding member of the Council of Asian Liberals and Democrats.

ADACAS continues to comply with the restrictions that are coming into effect due to COVID-19. Because of this almost all of our staff are now working off-site. This should not affect the quality of the service we provide, but it will have some impact on how you contact us, and how we contact you.

At present the quickest way for us to respond to you is via email. Therefore if you are able to, please send an email to [email protected] with any queries you may have.

If you are a service provider or you would like to refer a friend of family member to our service and have received permission to do so, we ask that you complete the referral form attached with as much detail as possible and send this through to [email protected]

You can still reach ADACAS by calling (02) 6242 5060. We will sometimes be able to respond to your call immediately, but often we will need to take your details and have one of our staff call you back.

During busy times your call may divert to our voicemail. If this happens please leave a message and we will be able to respond to you quickly.

In all cases we endeavour to respond to your email or phone call within 2 business days.
