宜蘭縣勅建礁溪協天廟

本廟始建於清嘉慶九年，甲子夏季（民國前一百零八年），初期只有茅屋三間，只奉祀　關聖帝君。咸豐七年，丁巳夏季（民國前五十五年）改為土牆瓦頂，並增建東西廂房及兩房護廊，以供香客休憩。改建時經乩童扶鸞得帝君指示，築新殿於黃蜂出巢靈穴，即現在的殿位，後倚五峰旗，下臨太平洋，背山面水，香火日漸鼎盛。清同治六年丁卯（民國前四十五年），鎮臺使劉明燈提督巡察噶瑪蘭廳，表請勅建『協天廟』。

礁溪無協天宮，只有協天廟，有些人將協天廟說成協天宮是錯誤的。

協天廟的祭典以春秋祭典與乞龜為主，每年此時，各地分靈廟都會回協天廟進香，正殿內供滿了上千座的關帝君神像，各地信徒也前來觀禮、參拜。農曆正月13日（關帝飛升日）的春祭、6月24日（關帝誕辰日）的秋祭，都于一日之始——午夜子時舉行，為了讓地方人士參與，秋祭並於上午辰時重復舉行一場，由地方首長主祭。
協天廟的春秋祭典中，佾舞是一大特色，協天廟的佾舞是祭祀大夫的四佾舞，由當地16名小學童裝扮成關家軍，左手持“關”字樣盾牌，右手持長柄大斧，隨著節奏開、合、俯、仰，在莊嚴肅穆之下，又帶有一分學童的天真。另有兩位舞生持劍，站在陣前左右，負責監督佾舞進行，不須隨樂起舞。
在擊鼓聲下，祭典正式開始，啟扉、痙毛血、迎神、進饌，舞生並於三獻禮時起舞，在飲福受胙後撤饌、送神、望燎以至闔扉，歷時90分鐘的儀式，完全遵循古禮。在撤饌後，廟方發送平安餅乾給觀禮者，進香膜拜者也得到廟方贈送的壽面。
協天廟另一個重要祭典是乞龜拜拜，于農曆正月13~16日舉行。在宜蘭開墾的初期，人們為了感謝關帝君的庇祐，在關帝飛升日以大壽龜祭祀。每年的爐主必須事先制好象徵平安如意的大壽龜，從正月13日起，接受信徒叩謝、祈求，到16日才殺龜，凡是對神有所請求並取得“龜肉”的信徒，在第二年應驗後必須加倍償還“壽龜”，有的還加演酬謝神戲。如果所請求的事未如願，或是家有喪事，可等到應驗了才奉還。由於信眾頗多，每年乞龜拜拜時，廟前供奉的“壽龜”數量十分驚人；由各地前來的信徒也使得協天廟一帶人車塞巷，是礁溪鄉的年度重要祭典。
